Summer’s Here!

And with my new summer job I have a lot more money to burn! (Well some anyway…)

Unfortunately that lovely Innocent World OP has sold out in black. There’s a nice brown, but I’m not sure I want to spend $300+ on a dress that I’m going to constantly wish is a different color. Its probably just as well; it would probably end up looking too short on me somehow anyway. Oh well.

There’s a lot of stereotypical lolita things I don’t indulge myself in, and a lot I do. For example, I can’t remember ever wearing false lashes. I’ve just never had a reason to. But circumstances aligned and I’ve found myself with a pair. They’re not that exciting, just the Katy Perry ones from my local drug store. (I could honestly care less about Katy Perry but they had precious pastel boxes so I had to buy a pair.)

I got “Sweetie Pie” since they were the most natural looking set. I’ve always been a fan of more natural makeup. Anyway, I think I’m going to use this as an excuse to get all dolled up and post pics to this site, FINALLY. It will be nice to feel like a real lolita.

Oh, and back to that summer money thing. I’m going to make a post soon about my lolita college wishlist! :)

Recipe: Milk Tea

I recently went on a trip to China with my father over spring break. Its impossible to take a trip there without going to a tea house, and I bought quite a bit of tea. (Unfortunately milk tea requires black tea, which I did not purchase at the time, but any old black tea you find at the grocery store should work just fine.) With all of that tea, I received a “Tea Preparation” pamphlet, which, although badly translated into English, had quite a bit of useful information on it. Included was a recipe for milk tea, which I’d like to share with all of you.

(Note before you begin: Unflavored black tea will work best, such as English or Irish Breakfast. The stronger the black tea the better. You can also use evaporated milk and then add sugar to taste at Step 8. If using condensed milk, the sweetness of the tea will vary based on the brand.)

4 cups of water
4 tablespoons of black tealeaves (6 teabags cut open work just fine)
14oz of sweetened condensed milk

You will also need a pot,  a wooden spoon, and a tea strainer (or a coffee filter). Makes about 4 cups of tea.

Step 1: Add loose tea and water to pot, put on medium heat.

Step 2: Bring to a low boil.

Step 3: Bring heat to low and simmer for 3 minutes.

Step 4: Spoon in condensed milk and stir. Bring back to medium heat, stirring to make sure the condensed milk dissolves properly.

Step 5: Bring to a low boil.

Step 6: Bring to low heat and simmer for 3 minutes again.

Step 7: Add tea strainer to your teacup.

Step 8: Pour in tea.

Step 9: Enjoy your milk tea! (With your favorite tea cookies!)

Early April Updates!

Hello again! I still am terrible at updating this. But oh well. At least I’m (sort of) trying?

I still haven’t gotten around to altering that lovely Innocent World JSK I recently bought. I’m thinking I may just sell it- its quite short on me anyway, and I think it would look silly with an underskirt. Oh well. But in light of that disappointment, I’m considering another foray into the trials and tribulations of buying brand as a plus size lolita. With this:

Innocent World’s new Germaine One Piece. The measurements are incredibly promising- they give quite a bit of wiggle room for someone with an 85cm waist and 100cm bust. I’m a lot less afraid that a similar effect will happen with this dress because of the way the shoulders are cut. And its also quite long. It seems like a perfect basic lolita piece as well. As someone who has been loving the fashion for so long I barely have what anyone would consider a lolita wardrobe. I guess I’ll see if I can pull together the money to get this dress. :)

Besides lusting after pretty rufflies? Life has been very uneventful. It is strange being a 4th quarter senior. It feels like nothing matters anymore. Just free time and time with the boyfriend. At least this gives me more time to (hopefully) post on this blog!

I admit it…

I’m really bad at posting here haha. So I’ll just make a quick update on a few things…

I got a really lovely Innocent World dress in the mail (Harmonia OP Short Length in black). Its beautiful and gorgeous and wonderful and everything I would expect from Innocent World. Unfortunately, despite the fact that it fits, the arms are placed in a way that my shoulders and breasts cannot exist simultaneously. I should have been expecting something like this, but I guess I was being optimistic. I realize its not well looked upon to alter brand, but its not  a big-name OP anyway so I don’t feel like it will be a problem to get the arms placed in a better fashion. (It also gives me a chance to make it slightly longer in the bodice, since it hits about 2 inches above my natural waist and looks a tad awkward.) I guess its the trials and tribulations of being an abnormally tall AND plus sized lolita? Ugh.

Secondly, I realize that my wishlist photos have derped (my bad, should have saved them), so I’ll get those fixed soon. I’ll also start adding clothes to My Closet.

Lastly, I think I’ll be selling some things soon, and if I do, I’ll post a link here. Thanks for reading, whoever you are. :)

It’s the day of Christmas Eve….

And my lazy family still hasn’t gotten it together enough to put up the tree. Seriously. How lame is that? This is one of the most dysfunctional family holidays I’ve been on yet. Oh well. On to more cheerful things.

I recently bought this skirt to wear for Christmas Eve. I realized this morning that I don’t really have a top to wear with it that will really make it lolita (or a petticoat for that matter), but if my outfit is cute enough I’ll post it anyway. Why not, right?

Two days ago my family took a day trip to another island (one with cellphone service and more than 2 restaurants), and my stepsister and I did a bit of shopping. One of the days after Christmas I’ll make a haul post.

I’ve been trying to do some baking up here, since I have all day to prep and such. Yesterday I made a pear gallete, and for tonight’s Christmas dinner I’m making a lemon-pinenut tart. For the Boxing Day open house that my mother has organized, I am making sticky toffee cupcakes with salted caramel buttercream. I hope those turn out as tasty as they sound! (I’m getting the above 2 recipes from a little book I snagged recently, Small Sweet Treats. Some of the recipes are not for me, but the ones that are really are!)

Anyway, I hope everyone reading this has a lovely Christmas Eve/Christmas, and I look forward to posting more soon!
